The Japanese Scissor Company was established in 1999 to meet the demand from hairdressers and stylist for high quality cost effective Japanese scissors.
A number of Japanese manufacturers who met our high standards were invited to produce a range of scissors which would satisfy the needs of hairdressers. Many of these manufacturers held a long tradition of hand making Samurai swords which were razor sharp. These skills are now employed in the making of scissors for The Japanese Scissor Company.
In 2010, due to our involvement in grooming since 1985 and our inability to find scissors of suitable quality we were amongst the pioneers using Japanese 440 C steel in the manufacture of grooming scissors.
Today almost all modern scissors use Japanese 440C steel, however there is a massive difference in the manufacturing process. Chinese made are usually described as hand finished, as are all scissors regardless of manufacturer or materials, and often cost as much as a genuine Japanese made scissor.
Our scissors carry a lifetime guaranteed against faulty materials, workmanship. In the highly unlikely event of any of the above occurring we will replace the scissor without question. This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, poor sharpening or the scissors being dropped.
